Addlyn's Virgin Post

hello everyone! this is addlyn, addy's younger sister. my kor says that since so long haven't update the blog and plus he is so tired so i volunteer to do it for him. but he made me promise to set that stupid title! grrrr..i actually wanted to help him do that overdued richard ashcroft music review also but since he said that the album is bad, i also cannot be bothered with him. anyway my kor's taste in music also so disgusting, either listen to very loud or very boring type of songs. the only one i like and he like is jay chou! so shuai! then again, he did say richard ashcroft the new album sounds a bit like robbie williams. hmm..maybe i will like it hor? still prefer pussycat dolls, though kor said that they are crap and they have a crappy name. he just don't know how to appreciate music la he. but i agree with him about the name. it does sound a bit gross! ok i think i write enough already la. bye!

oh yeah. i want to say hi to all my long lost irc kakis!!

HI!!

Valentine's Day Over-Hyped?

I was on the bus home with my friend last week and she was just commenting on how overhyped Valentine's Day is. How the restaurants are super crowded, flowers are super expensive and how pointless it all seemed to be! So i asked her how she was going to spend the 14th of February? And she told me that she'll be home munching popcorn and watching a Bollywood movie. Fair enough.

Fastforward to last night, she showed me this link to a suite package from a beach resort. She asked me if it was nice for a Valentine's Day getaway. You see, she just got attached and suddenly 14th of February is not just for staying home and watching some indian flick.

The thing is, Valentine's Day is just like Christmas or New Year. To some, it's just another day on the calender but to others it's a day where you get the "excuse" to be romantic to your partner for a day. Or find an "excuse" to ask the girl/ guy of your dreams out. It doesn't matter if you go to a posh restaurant or a hawker centre (char kway teow with heart shaped lak cheong anyone?). It doesn't matter if you caught a movie or took a walk by the beach. It can even be spent with a group of friends. What matters most is how special you want the day to be for yourself and for the ones you care about. So to those without dates and who think Valentine's Day is too commercialised, I'd say you are right and sleep tight, tomorrow's just 15th February, another boring day. And to those with dates, don't think so much about the silliness of it all, overall it's Valentine's Day!

It's Only Words

Some of you will be familiar with these..

No relationship has a guarantee..If you want one, go buy an electrical appliance..Even then, it's only for a year or two..

Hope is in your heart..Whether you are happy or sad, the choice is always yours..

Don't give up..Tough times are a test of your character..

I am guilty..
Of too many words..

CNY 2006

It's a stay-home-saturday..but i'm quite liking it..no need to rush for work..no need to rush home..no need to rush, period. Anyway, now that i have time, allow me to backtrack a little to a certain tuesday..not so far away..

CNY 2006 was a success! Thanks to all who made the effort to turn up..every year the group seem to lose a few people and gain a few people..Come to think of it, there are only 1 or 2 ever-presents throughout the years..kenneth, roland, tzemin, xinyi and jessica might have made the list but they all missed out last year..karen, yili, gabriel and maurice were only recent additions to the gathering..that leaves -drum roll- raymond, alex and my good bud ms ling!! not sure if that is statistically correct though! please do correct me if i'm wrong leh :P

This brings to mind something that's came up in my various conversations with friends recently, "Are your irc friends really an embarassment to you?" Most of us at the gathering will beg to differ but seriously, the general feeling is that irc is a passe thing (which it is!) and not something to brag about..but what about the friends you have made? Does that make irc friends passe as well? If they were friends before, why are people ashamed of them now? When i think of the good friends i have with me today, there really is no shame in saying "I know him/ her through irc"..the #tkgs part is harder to explain though! -sheepish look- Anyway, kenneth's recent birthday gathering and this recent cny gathering proved that it doesn't make a difference if we knew each other through irc or on the streets, friends always have fun as long as they are together!

Last but not least, here is a list of this year's CNY attendees (in no particular order): xinyi, gabriel and angeline, karen, kenneth, gaius, chloe, chunchyi, roland, yaling, raymond, yili, jessica, tzemin, maurice and christine, chris and jonathan and alex (let me know if i left out anyone!)..Hope to see you guys next year! Gong Xi Fa Cai, CNY will never feel the same without you guys!

Goodbye..For Now

Just sent xinyi off at the airport..she's going over to sydney to pursue her degree..my spw (which stands for superpunkywunky) daughter has grown up! It seems like just yesterday when she was still in secondary school and we were irc addicts and we became the super-elite spw family (me the mum and she the dotter)..aahh how time flies..Our relationship has always been kind of weird..in the sense that we seemed to be in our own zones but yet we could somehow always connect..haha..i guess you'd have to be her or me to understand it..Anyway, it was sad seeing her go..but then I've never been a big fan of farewells..they are either so happy or sad..either way they just make me want to cry..Well before i get all mushy and messed up, just like to say Bon Voyage to my darling daughter..Take care while you're over there, be good and best of luck in your search for "The Australian Husband"! Mummy loves you! -hugs-
